Donna Sue Thompson, 79, of Wasilla, Alaska passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on April 12th, 2026.

Donna Sue Thompson

Donna was born to Patricia Miller and Robert Freyman in 1946, and was raised in Los Alamos, New Mexico. After briefly studying accounting at the University of Arizona, she broadened her expertise by completing training in COBOL programming. She was a skilled accountant who once processed the entire payroll for Texas Oil and Gas — by hand.

She married John Douglas and had two children, Andrea and Steven. In 1978, she remarried to David Thompson, relocated to Alaska and had two more children, Christopher and Heather.

Together they built a life together in Seward for nearly 30 years, a place she always considered home.

Donna was a devoted mother. She was known for her generosity and cheeky humor. She had a green thumb and often filled her home with flowers, her favorite being roses. She loved cats, was an avid reader, and a skilled writer.

She will be missed dearly by her family and those who had the pleasure of knowing her. A small service will be held at Primrose Retirement Community, Sunday, April 26th at 3 p.m.
