Tony’s Invitational Volleyball Tournament was a tremendous success several weekends ago! With 20 teams traveling from across the state, including as far as Juneau, this event continues to be a widely popular and exciting tourney.
First and foremost, we extend our sincere thanks to our generous sponsors: Tony’s, Exit Marine, and Seward Community Health Center. Your support is essential and sincerely appreciated.
We are also incredibly grateful to our dedicated volunteers: Jodi Kurtz, Sean Williams, Paige Carter-Kurtz, Jamie Fredrickson, Cole Killinger, China Grainger, Abby Host, Maggie Brewer, Abby Lange, Maya Moriarty, Liz Rasmussen, Shawn Landon, and Miranda Carrington. Your time and effort made this event possible, and SPRD is truly thankful for each of you.
Special recognition goes to our outstanding gym leaders: Russ White, Ron Marsh, and Mel Sanders, as well as our amazing Sports and Recreation crew for their hard work and coordination throughout the tournament.
We would also like to thank the High School, Middle School, and AVTEC for the use of their facilities, and extend special appreciation to High School custodian Ryan Kocher for his extra efforts in maintaining and cleaning the gyms during such a busy event.
Finally, a big thank you to our excellent officials: Willy Reader, Carlene Hockman, Molly Pfleiger, Lin Alenepi, and Brian Bayless, for ensuring fair and competitive play.
This tournament brought over 500 visitors to our community, providing a meaningful boost to local businesses during the shoulder season. We so are proud to host such a positive and impactful event!
