KENAI, Alaska (9/15/2026) — Members of the Kenai Peninsula Education Association (KPEA) and Kenai Peninsula Educational Support Association (KPESA) have overwhelmingly voted in favor to ratify new three-year contracts with the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District (KPBSD). The KPBSD School Board has also approved the agreements.

The contracts cover the 2025-2026, 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years and include salary increases for members of both bargaining units, including retroactive pay for eligible employees for the 2025-2026 school year.

The agreements also include increased employer contributions to the District’s self-insured health care plan and changes to contract language intended to improve working conditions for educators and support staff.

“Thank you to the KPEA and KPESA Bargaining Teams for your tireless efforts over the past two years to secure contracts that are competitive and will attract and retain the dedicated educators and support staff our students deserve,” said KPEA and KPESA Presidents Becca Walker and Susanna Litwiniak. “Because of your work, families across the Kenai Peninsula can count on stable, quality schools with the teachers and staff who make a lasting difference in our children’s lives.”

The new agreements are now in effect and cover employees represented by KPEA and KPESA through the 2027-2028 school year.

The full collective bargaining agreements are available on the KPBSD website.
