T’s Takeout, a food joint recently opened off Herman Leirer Road, honors the dream of late Seward local Thomas Troy Eliason. The restaurant, owned by his sister Tina Crump and staffed with family members, offers Sewardites comfort food classics like country-fried steak, omelets, and fried chicken. The project of creating T’s Takeout began years ago, with Eliason building his vision from the ground up. After his passing, his family decided to continue pursuing his dream and open the restaurant in his honor.

Just from a few moments speaking with Tina, it’s clear this family-run takeout is more than just that. Her hope to grow this spot into a year-round restaurant with table space does more than honor her brother’s dream, it ties the family together even closer through Eliason’s legacy. Tina made it clear that this spot is for the Seward community, and has felt immense support from it in return.

The menu began with Eliason, then continued with the family and restaurateur Scott Bald curating classic American recipes with sizable portions to serve up at T’s Takeout. Tina recommends the Dragnet Skillet for breakfast, the burgers and French beef and cheese for lunch, and the fish and chips or broasted chicken for dinner. With plans to provide sack lunches for crews, and hoping to continue service throughout the winter, T’s Takeout is a spot built with locals in mind.

“We’re asking all the people for ideas and things they’d like to see on the menu, anything we can improve upon, to make it better for everyone,” Tina said. “The support has been awesome from the community.”

The values of this family-owned business are evident in the way Tina shows gratitude for both her family and the community: “I just want to thank all my family for being here and helping out to make this happen and work as a team… My favorite thing about this place is continuing on what my brother started and making his dream, his little dream come true.”
