Elections are different this year. All elections will be held at the Seward Library & Museum Community Room. The state of Alaska has chosen this location. This allows all voting to happen in one place.

The primary election is Tuesday, August 18. Voters choose one candidate; the top four finishers advance to the general election, where voters have an opportunity to rank them.

The city election is Tuesday, October 6. Two City Council seats are available.

General and borough elections are Tuesday, November 3.

The borough last fall changed the borough election to the same day as the general election. We are required to have two separate election boards for these elections. 

The Community Room will be divided into two separate voting areas on this day, one for the general and one for the borough.        

Early voting for the primary will run from August 3 to August 17 at Seward City Hall Council Chambers from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday).

Early voting for the city election will run from September 21 to October 5 at Seward City Hall Council Chambers from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday).

Early voting for the general and borough elections will run from October 20 to November 2 at Seward City Hall Council Chambers from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday). (Note that Monday, October 19, is Alaska Day and City Hall will be closed.)

This year the deadline for eligible voters to apply for absentee by-mail voting is August 8 for the primary, and by October 24 for the general election. You can apply by email, fax or in-person.

Ballots must be postmarked by election day.
