Royal Caribbean Group is deepening its roots in Seward with the launch of a new business accelerator aimed at cultivating local entrepreneurs. The company, which recently became the anchor tenant for the new cruise ship dock, rolled out its Port Partners Program in October. Open to anyone in Seward with visions of starting a business, the initiative offers would-be founders the chance to apply through December 15, 2025 ( apply for port partners ).

Finalists in the program will participate in a 10-week academic course at the Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC), sharpening their business acumen before taking the stage at an interactive pitch competition. One standout business concept will walk away with a $20,000 grant.

This week, Royal Caribbean revealed that Greg Haas will lead the business class at the heart of the program. A U.S. Coast Guard veteran who settled in Seward in 2008, Haas is a familiar face in the community. He’s spent years working with local organizations and currently serves as a maritime instructor at AVTEC, helping students jumpstart careers in the industry.

In 2021, Haas launched Stoney Creek Brewhouse, a craft brewery that started in his garage. His experience as both an educator and small business founder gives him a unique perspective as he guides the next wave of Seward entrepreneurs.
