In light of the very likely expiration of various federal food benefit programs on November 1, along with the fact that our local food pantry saw a large uptick in demand this past week, locals are asking how they can help Sewardites in need.
Listed below are a few ways to help our friends and neighbors. We will continue to provide updates on this topic as more information comes in.
Donations to the He Will Provide Food Pantry
- Location:
- 238 5th Ave in the basement of the City Annex building. The entrance is in the back.
- You can give cash or checks directly to the food pantry on Thursdays, 3 – 6 p.m.
- They will use this money to purchase food items at bulk prices.
- Make checks out to He Will Provide. (The original name, but not connected with any faith-based group.)
- You can drop off food donations on Thursdays, 3 – 6 p.m.
Community Food Drive for the Food Pantry
- When: Sunday, November 2, at 6 p.m.
- Where: Rae Building
- What:
- Cash/Checks made out to the He Will Provide food bank.
- Non-perishable food (see below for suggested items)
- The event organizers will collect items, including checks/cash and deliver them to the Food Bank.
