October 30, 2025 Seward Folly
Summary of Police Activity (10/23/25 – 10/29/25):
- Traffic and Parking Enforcement:
The majority of incidents involved routine traffic stops (mostly warnings, some citations) for speeding, headlight violations, failing to stop, and illegal passing. There was an especially heavy focus on parking violations, resulting in dozens of written warnings issued for parking in prohibited areas, particularly at intersections around Third, Fourth, and Fifth Streets from 10/28–10/29. - Abandoned/Suspicious Vehicles:
Multiple reports of abandoned or unoccupied vehicles led to investigations, with some vehicles tagged for possible towing and one driver leaving a note requesting not to tow. - Public Safety Calls:
Officers responded to welfare checks (all subjects found safe), reports of disturbances including one resulting in a criminal trespass and indecent exposure charge, agency assists, a 911 hang-up (determined safe), and an incident involving possible ingestion of cleaner requiring an ambulance. - Other Noteworthy Incidents:
- A counterfeit $100 bill was collected.
- Ongoing littering issues at harbor dumpsters and trash overflow.
- Civil dispute at a boatyard and patrol requests for ongoing dumping of trash for birds.
- A DUI arrest and citation for open container, plus arrest on a warrant for Patrick Williams Jr.
- Found property (purse, keys) turned in.
- Accident on Nash Road: no injuries reported.
- Several false alarms and open-line 911 calls checked and cleared.
- Disturbances involving attempted fights in public spaces; offenders were removed or charged.
Overall:
Most police activity consisted of traffic stops and parking enforcement, with sporadic calls for welfare checks, minor disturbances, abandoned/suspicious vehicles, and a few criminal matters (counterfeit currency, DUI, civil trespass).
