A new after-school bus service is set to make life easier for Seward families this fall. Youth360 has secured dedicated transportation to help students participate in tutoring, clubs, and other after-school activities without parent pick-up.
Starting September 16th, the bus will collect students from all three Seward schools on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Riders can choose to head to either the SPRD Teen Rec Room (grades 6-12) or the Seward Boys and Girls Club (grades K-5). Both destinations offer safe, supervised spaces for kids to spend the afternoon until parents finish their workday.
The SPRD Teen Rec Room is open Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.; the Seward Boys and Girls Club keeps its doors open until 6 p.m. each day.
“The new transportation option is designed to break down barriers that have kept some students from joining after-school programs in the past. Now, families no longer have to worry about finding a ride before the end of the workday.”
-Andrew Scrivo, Youth360 Program Director
Parents are reminded to complete all necessary paperwork in advance so their children can participate in these community resources.
Youth360 Program Director Andrew Scrivo would like to remind community members of two volunteer programs in which they can support local secondary students. One program is seeking professionals with backgrounds in personal finance, culinary arts, or photography to assist with elective courses at Seward High School. In addition, Youth360 is recruiting parents and community members to volunteer with middle school students through the SMS Lunch Volunteer Program. The initiative emphasizes adult mentorship, following the Icelandic Prevention Model.
