The Seward Arts Council is sponsoring three events this week, beginning this evening, Thursday, August 21, with a watch party of Bill Nye the Science Guy. This special event, held in partnership with the Alaska SeaLife Center, will begin at 6:20 p.m. Join the Seward Arts Council at the SeaLife Center for a free livestream of a Q&A session with Bill Nye, broadcast live from Anchorage. Next on Monday evening is the showing of Ocean, Featuring David Attenborough.

A special screening of “Ocean,” narrated by David Attenborough, will take place on August 25 at the Rae Building. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. The event will feature guest speakers from SalmonStateAK and Oceana, two nonprofit organizations that advocate for sustainable fisheries and oppose trawling in Alaskan waters. The speakers will provide a brief introduction to the film and discuss the impact of trawling on local ecosystems. Tickets are $10.

The Seward Arts Council is closing out a busy week with a special event on Wednesday night. On August 27, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., the public is invited to attend a free movie night and variety show presented by Changing Tides Theatrics. The event will take place in the Community Room at the Seward Community Library. All are welcome to join in for an evening of entertainment and community as the Arts Council wraps up its week of activities.
