Providence Seward Medical Center (PSMC), owned by the City of Seward and managed by  Providence, serves as a cornerstone of healthcare in our community. As a six-bed critical  access hospital, PSMC provides extensive inpatient and outpatient services, ensuring  residents have access to quality medical care close to home.

One of the standout features of PSMC is its 24-hour Level IV Trauma Center emergency  department, which is equipped to handle urgent cases around the clock. The hospital’s  commitment to patient care is further demonstrated by the recent establishment of a  Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). This crucial service spares patients from the need  to travel to Anchorage or Soldotna after a sexual assault, providing immediate and  compassionate care right here in Seward.

PSMC’s inpatient services cater to patients who do not require higher levels of care,  emphasizing personalized and comprehensive treatment. Additionally, swing bed services  are available for patients who are not quite ready to return home after discharge. This  service is a significant benefit to patients and their families, as it keeps the care local and  accessible.

Outpatient services at PSMC include infusion services and wound care, ensuring continuous treatment for various medical conditions. The radiology department offers x-ray, CT, ultrasound, and onsite digital mammography, with echocardiograms set to be introduced soon. The hospital also boasts full laboratory services, including a blood bank, providing essential diagnostic support.

Providence Seward Mountain Haven, a 40-bed long-term care facility, is also owned by the  City of Seward and managed by Providence. Mountain Haven now offers respite care as part of our comprehensive services. It provides residents with a serene, home-like environment, complete with a cook in every lodge. The rehabilitation department at Mountain Haven offers physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to long-term care residents, hospital swing bed patients, and outpatients, ensuring comprehensive  rehabilitative care. Speech Therapy includes the following: speech sound and swallowing  assessments, language assessments, cognitive assessments, and a certified dementia care  specialist.

Exciting developments are on the horizon for PSMC, including the expansion of the specialty infusion clinic to accommodate visiting specialists and chemotherapy infusions. Future plans also include the opportunity to offer more outpatient procedures with visiting  specialists and minor elective surgical procedures, enhancing the scope of medical services available to Seward residents.

Providence Seward is deeply invested in the community, sponsoring numerous events that  foster a sense of togetherness and well-being. These events include the Mt. Marathon Race,  4th of July Fireworks, Polar Bear Jump, health fairs, Bike Rodeo, Community Winter Movie  Series, Breakfast with Santa, and many more.

Through its comprehensive healthcare services and active community involvement,  Providence Seward Medical Center stands out as a vital institution dedicated to the health  and happiness of Seward’s residents.
