Can you imagine giant kites dancing against snow-capped mountains, the smell of coffee and treats mixing with salty ocean air, and the sound of live music floating down the Waterfront Trail? Yep, Seward Sports and Recreation Department is at it again with another fun-filled event.

Mark your calendars for the most colorful weekend of 2025! The Seward Sports and Recreation Department is turning our beloved Waterfront Trail into a sky-high celebration. The Alaskiters are coming down from Anchorage with their collection of kites. These include massive, brightly designed kites, LED-lit kites, and zipping stunt kites.
Never flown a kite? No problem! The Sports and Rec team has got you covered. They’re running kite-making classes, or if you’re feeling less crafty, just borrow one of theirs.
Here’s a list of activities:
- Food and coffee trucks serving up your favorite local bites
- Local vendors with unique treasures
- An Easter egg hunt that’ll have the little ones racing across the trail
- Kid-friendly games throughout the day
- Live music to keep your toes tapping
- A logo contest with a sweet $100 prize
“This will be a fun, outdoor event for all ages,” says Russ White, the Sports and Recreation Manager, who’s clearly as excited as we are. “Live music and vendors are coming this year, and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Last year, 500 people discovered the magic, and more people are expected this year, especially with the forecast of partly sunny skies. Bring your camera, your sense of wonder, and maybe a jacket – this will be a fun event for the whole family.
