In a testament to the growing vitality of Seward’s arts scene, local oil painter Susan Swiderski announced the relocation of her gallery to the historic Brown & Hawkins building, marking another milestone in Seward’s cultural evolution.
Art enthusiasts can explore mediums from various artists in the expanded gallery, including Swiderski’s oil paintings, watercolors from an artist in Anchorage, and mixed media and sculpture from well-regarded artists from the Seward area.
“It is my hope to provide a Fine Art Gallery dedicated to providing a curated experience focused on original artwork,” Swiderski said.
“I’m dedicated to representing a diverse group of talented artists that will resonate with both locals and visitors.”

The relocated gallery joins a vibrant artistic community that includes the Resurrect Art Coffee House & Art Gallery, housed in a repurposed historic church. These venues form the backbone of Seward’s emerging reputation as a destination for art enthusiasts.
The timing of the gallery’s relocation coincides with the approach of Seward’s popular summer art season. From May through September, the city hosts monthly First Friday events, where galleries and businesses showcase local artists with special receptions from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. These gatherings have become crucial networking opportunities for artists and community members alike.
For visitors planning to explore Seward’s art scene, the gallery is conveniently located on Fourth Avenue, within easy walking distance of the SeaLife Center.
As Seward continues to develop its artistic identity, the relocation and expansion of Swiderski’s gallery suggests a promising future for the local arts community. With summer approaching and tourism expected to increase, the city’s cultural sector appears poised for continued growth.
