Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
I hope everyone came out for the Parks and Rec Saint Patrick’s Day Parade yesterday and showed off their festive spirit.
We have a big Council meeting coming up on March 23, and this week’s newsletter is packed with everything you need to know!
Council will hold a public hearing on an ordinance that would amend city code related to marijuana establishments, limiting the number of establishments to two and placing restrictions on outdoor consumption and walk-up or drive-through windows.
Public Works is bringing forward the demolition of the Lowell Canyon water tank and construction of a new 500,000-gallon water storage tank. Bids were opened on March 9, with the lowest bid coming in at $2.85 million. This is a much-needed project that will be funded through previously approved sources, including ARPA funds and the State’s Drinking Water Revolving Fund loan.
The Electric Department will be presenting two resolutions related to hydroelectric development at Godwin Glacier, including a potential agreement with an engineering firm to move forward with the FERC permitting process. There is a real window of opportunity here with current federal incentives for renewable energy, and we are excited to bring this forward.
The meeting will also include a 6:00 p.m. work session with Providence.
It’s going to be a full and exciting meeting. Hope to see you there!
