December 11, 2025 Seward Folly
Over the five-day period, police issued several citations and verbal warnings for traffic and parking violations, especially related to registration, speeding, and snow removal areas. Officers also provided public assistance, responded to suspicious circumstances, and performed multiple welfare checks, including one for an elderly woman with dementia and an employee who had not shown up to work. Found property, such as a wallet and a social security card, was returned to owners. The department responded to medical and fire calls, assisted other agencies, handled a trespassing incident, and removed traffic hazards from local roads. Reports also included a theft of medication, a lost wallet, and concerns about a parent allegedly driving under the influence, though the individual was found not driving.
12/5/25
- 2050: Wallet found near AVTEC. Returned to legal owner who reported possible theft.
- 2206: An officer responded to a report of suspicious circumstances near the 200 block of Brownell.
- 2010: A citation was issued for obstructing traffic on Van Buren between Third and Fourth.
12/6/25
- 0521: Officer provided a public assist near Fourth and Madison.
- 0607: Citation issued to Michael Brannon near Fourth and North Harbor for failure to carry registration.
- 0623: Verbal warning given to Warren Cranshaw near Fourth and North Harbor for no lights on vehicle.
- 0630: Verbal warning given to Keegan Crow for speed near Third Street.
12/7/25
- 0151: Ambulance dispatched.
- 0655: Citation issued to Doyle Brueckner at Seward and Bear for speed. Verbal warning given for improperly displayed tags.
- 0916: Sylvia Borstad was issued a warning for failing to stop at a stop sign.
- 1213: Property owner was contacted regarding an open window on the second floor of Liberty Theatre.
- 1407: Welfare check requested for a woman in her 70s with dementia.
- 1456: A male driver of a blue F150 pickup was reported to have backed into a ditch and appeared stuck, but was able to drive himself out.
- 0113: Verbal warning was given to James Christian Morrison for speeding at Seward and Resurrection.
- 0126: Hughie Wilder III was given a verbal warning for failing to stop at a stop sign.
- 1522: RP was contacted and informed that her lost social security card was turned in to lost and found, she confirmed her identity and retrieved the card.
- 1830: Emory Evern was advised of their trespass from Tides Inn at 235 Third Avenue, Seward.
- 2203: Officer assist AST with DUI arrest.
- 2223: Driver was advised his driver’s license was not appearing as valid in State system. It was determined to be a database error.
- 2334: Officer provided a welfare check on an individual just outside the Yukon Bar.
12/9/25
- 0231: A parking warning was issued for a vehicle on the 300 block of Third Avenue due to parking in a snow removal prohibited area.
- 0237: A parking warning was issued for a vehicle on the 200 block of Fourth Avenue due to prohibited parking for snow removal.
- 0807: A traffic cone was reported in the middle of the highway on Bear Drive, causing vehicles to swerve around it. Officer determined the cone was marking a pot hole.
- 0842: Officer removed debris from the roadway near Seward and Dieckgraeff.
- 1107: A wallet containing various personal items and cash was reported lost in the Seward area.
- 1232: Officer conducted a VIN inspection on a vehicle parked on the East side of City Hall.
- 1308: RP requested a welfare check on an employee that had not shown up at work for three days.
- 1615: Officers responded to an audible alarm at the Qutekcak building on Third Avenue. Officer spoke with an employee who was on scene.
- 1700: RP reported he hit rounds of firewood on the Seward Highway. AST and DOT informed.
12/10/25
- 0214: Warning placed on vehicle near Third and Madison for parking in a posted prohibited area for snow removal.
- 0219: Warning placed on vehicle near Third and Jefferson for parking in a snow removal prohibited area.
- 0223: Warning placed on vehicle near Third and Railway for parking in posted prohibited area for snow removal.
- 0226: Warning placed on vehicle near Fourth and Adams for parking in a snow removal prohibited area.
- 0230: Warning placed on vehicle near Fourth and Washington for parking in a posted prohibited area for snow removal.
- 0233: Warning placed on vehicle near Fifth and Adams for parking in a snow removal prohibited area.
- 1237: Venmo debit card was turned in by an individual and placed in safekeeping by the officer.
- 1447: RP reported stolen medication from his residence.
- 1801: Juvenile reported his mother was drinking and driving but was unsure where. Mother was located in the parking lot of the apartments, not driving.
